About OD
Some people use the term organization development (OD) to
describe their experience with organizational change and growth.
In fact, OD is a formal, interdisciplinary field of study and practice
that has brought innovation and improvement to the public, private
and non-profit sectors for over 60 years.
Richard Beckhard, a leading OD theorist and practitioner, defines
organization development as "a systemic and systematic change
effort, using behavioral science knowledge, to transform the
organization into a new state."
